Late change of heart! Spurs secure future of academy star Frankie Day
Tottenham Hotspur academy start Frankie Day has penned down new terms at White Hart Lane. John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lliywhite Rose, suggests that Day has signed a new two-year contract at N17.
He also insists that officials behind the scenes were perplexed and worried that the highly-rated striker would leave the club.
Wenham delighted with Day’s contract renewal at Spurs
Frankie Day was set to bid adieu to Hotspur Way after deregistering; however, a late change of heart pushed the striker to extend terms at White Hart Lane.
And Wenham expressed his delight at the news. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, he said:
“He looked to be on his way out; there was talk of him deregistering, which is quite severe. There was understandable worry within the club, so credit to them for convincing Day to stay. It is fantastic to see him renew because he is the standout player at that level. It’s massive for Tottenham too, as it shows the club is moving in the right direction.”
“He has signed a two-year deal that will take him to the end of his time with the Under-16s. Hopefully, when they renegotiate for a scholarship deal, there aren’t any issues.”
Frankie Day is still young, and it is highly unlikely that he will push for first-team football in the near future. However, these years will help the club develop him into a havoc striker and also monitor his development from his academy days into men’s football.
There are multiple talents coming up the ranks at Hotspur Way as of now, which will be a sign of excitement among the fans and officials at White Hart Lane.
