Is Conor Gallagher heading to Tottenham?
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher this summer, and former Spurs defender Alan Hutton insists that the North Londoners are the favourites to land the 24-year-old following the developments at Aston Villa.
The Lilywhites have been interested in landing the England international since last summer; however, no move has materialized yet, and the club is set to push for his signature yet again. Daniel Levy & Co. will be competing against Aston Villa as the Premier League duo are set to ramp up their pursuit for his signatures following the conclusion of Euro 2024.
Ange Postecoglou has already recruited to his roster in the middle of the park, with Archie Gray coming in from Leeds United, while Unai Emery has added Belgian star Amadou Onana to his arsenal. Spurs might be looking at adding 24-year-old Gallagher who was labelled ‘priceless’ by Mauricio Pochettino last season.
Aston Villa’s Onana signing boosts Spurs’ chances for Gallagher
Alan Hutton believes that with the arrival of Onana at Villa Park, they will not be involved in Conor Gallagher’s pursuit anymore. He also suggests that Chelsea and Spurs would meet in the middle to agree on a fee for the 24-year-old this summer.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Hutton said:
“I think he makes Tottenham better. He would give them a different option. Do I think they could get him for £30 million? Probably not; I think Chelsea value him at £50 million. Could they meet somewhere in the middle? I think they’d be getting an excellent player with experience who was the captain at Chelsea last season, and he definitely makes them stronger in the middle of the pitch.”
“I think he would flourish under Ange Postecoglou with what he’s trying to do at that club, so it’s going to be an interesting one. Now that Villa, who I know were interested in him, are going for Amadou Onana, that will probably be dead in the water, and that almost leaves Spurs to go and chase after him. I’ve got a feeling he will leave. I didn’t at the start, but I feel that the longer this goes on, he will move somewhere.”

As Hutton suggests, Gallagher would be a fantastic option for the North Londoners in the middle of the park. His tireless work rate would be a perfect complement to the likes of James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur.
We will see whether or not Daniel Levy can come to common terms with the Stamford Bridge representatives amid the very high valuation they have put on Gallagher’s services.
