Lazio facing a ‘big salary’ problem to sign Tottenham star Giovani Lo Celso
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, Serie A club Lazio are facing a huge salary issue in signing Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Giovani Lo Celso who is demanding a salary of about €4-5m a year, after taxes.
Lo Celso, who was labelled ‘outstanding’ by Ange Postecoglou for admirably chipping in when Spurs were facing numerous injury issues last season looks set to be leaving the club this summer in search of a new adventure.
The Argentinian two-time Copa America winner has somehow not managed to convince the Tottenham Hotspur fanbase with his performances during his time here. Despite always being good for his nation and whilst on loan at Villarreal, he has struggled at the N17.
One thing that has been characteristic of the 28-year-old’s time here is a general lack of trust from all the managers who have managed him. Even the attack-minded Ange Postecoglou struggled to give the Argentinian international a starting role in the team.
Premier League rivals Aston Villa have approached to sign the player which might see Jacob Ramsey (a player Spurs want) move the other way. This would be a win-win for all parties involved but the deal is not yet done.
From Lo Celso’s perspective, the opportunity to reunite with Spanish tactician Unai Emery, a manager under whom he played some of his best football represents an extraordinary scenario for him to revive his career.
Serie A clubs though might be hesitant to meet his salary demands. The pay structure in the Italian league is very different to the Premier League and if Lo Celso wants to move abroad, he might have to budge on his demands.
Ultimately, the 28-year-old’s priority might be to go to Villa Park. This could be reflected in his salary demands from other clubs. It remains to be seen if the two Premier League clubs can agree to this transfer.

Giovani Lo Celso is a very good player who for some reason could not find his best level at Spurs. There is little doubt that he might become a very important player for the next club he joins. Let’s wait and see how it goes.
