Ange Postecoglou offers injury update on Tottenham youngster Lucas Bergvall
Speaking in the post-match press conference as quoted by Football. London, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has offered an update on the condition of Lucas Bergvall who was forced off in the QPR clash.
Pre-season preparations at Spurs are in full swing with the club having already played their second pre-season game against QPR yesterday. The game ended 2-0 in favour of the North London side with Yves Bissouma and Dane Scarlett amongst the goals.
Bergvall started the game for Postecoglou but could not last more than 26 minutes in the game with Dejan Kulusevski coming on to replace him. Having just arrived at the club, this left Spurs fans worrying about the young midfielder’s situation.
Bergvall arrived this summer after joining for £8.5million from Djurgarden in February and the youngster is expected to play a role in the first-team under Ange in his first season at the N17. A loan move doesn’t seem to be considered at the moment.
Kulusevski, who came on for Bergvall was himself removed at the 66th-minute mark, considering this was only a friendly to get players up to speed. However, Spurs have looked sharp in both the games they’ve played so far.
Speaking about the injury that the 18-year-old suffered in the game, here is what Ange had to say
“He was just a bit sore. I don’t think it’s anything significant. Again for him, and for Archie [Gray], this is all new to them, the way we train, and we’ve got to look after them, but like I said I don’t think it’s anything significant”
Welcome to the Premier League, Lucas Bergvall! The intensity in this league is something different from anything that the youngster would have experienced in his short career so far. Ange’s methods in training are known to be especially intense.
It comes as welcome news to Spurs fans that the injury isn’t serious and Bergvall should be fine soon. As Ange acknowledged, both Bergvall and Archie Gray who is coming up from the Championship will find this level of training to be new.
