Spurs and United vie for Monaco right-back Vanderson
With Emerson Royal heading towards a White Hart Lane exit, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign a new right-back in the ongoing summer transfer window. But so are Premier League rivals Manchester United, and the clubs are set to contend in an off-the-pitch contest as they target the same player in Vanderson.
Spurs have to sign a backup to first-choice right-back Pedro Porro, as both Emerson Royal and Djed Spence are looking to move away from N17 this summer. Meanwhile, Manchester Reds are looking to dispose of Aaron-Wan Bissaka, with West Ham interested in landing the former Palace defender.
If the aforementioned departures do come to fruition, it looks like both clubs will flex their financial muscle to land Brazil right-back Vanderson, per Sky Sports.
The Manchester Reds will be ‘ready to act’ if the West Ham transfer materializes for Wan Bissaka.
£40m standoff
The North Londoners have established links with Vanderson, and there are claims that the club have already initiated initial approaches for his signatures.
Vanderson has been impressing in the French top tier in the last season, while netting three goals in 23 appearances across all competitions, donning the Red and Whites badge as they came second in the Ligue 1.
Monaco, Vanderson’s current employers, want a fee of around £40m for his signatures, per Football London journalist Alasdair Gold, while Ben Jacobs has backed the claims suggesting that he is a concrete option for Spurs if Royal were to leave this summer.
