Spurs in Thompson tug-of-war
Tottenham Hotspur have expressed interest in signing highly acclaimed youngster Kyran Thompson from West Ham United this summer transfer window. The North Londoners are hopeful to receive his signatures.
This is again some excellent piece of business from Spurs as they continue their pursuit of high-potential young profiles. However, the transfer is not done yet, and Spurs face a late intervention from Arsenal to Thompson’s services.
The Gunners have been looking to make a late move to land the youngster, alongside Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
Wenham raves about Thompson as Spurs look to seal deal
John Wenham, owner of the reputed Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, acknowledged the quality that the 15-year-old midfielder possesses while suggesting that it would be huge for Spurs if they were able to hold late interest from the aforementioned sides to land Thompson.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“Thompson is a highly-rated young prospect. It looks as though all the big clubs in the Premier League want to sign him. Therefore, if Tottenham can win the race for his signature, that would be huge. He would be welcomed at the club. Spurs should always strive to sign the best young talent around. Thompson is a pacey winger who can also play in the number 10 position. Taking one of West Ham’s best young players would be a positive feeling for Tottenham, I am sure.”
Spurs beating Arsenal to one of the best upcoming players sounds too good to be true. However, given the fact that the player has already given his nod to Tottenham, you’d hope he stays by his words.
While Arsenal and Tottenham have expressed interest, it is difficult to see Newcastle convincing the player and his family to move from London, which makes it ideal for the North London duo to secure a transfer.
