Wenham advocates for Lankshear’s pre-season role
Tottenham Hotspur academy striker Will Lankshear has been impressive in the pre-season, and John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, wants the starlet to participate heavily in the Spurs ongoing pre-season.
The podcast host understands that the 19-year-old will not feature for Ange Postecoglou’s side once the season commences, and he wants Will to compound on the minutes in the pre-season.
The centre-forward has been so impressive that he may look for a loan move to continue his development, and Wenham wants to test the mettle of the 19-year-old in these games.
Lankshear impresses as Wenham calls for more minutes
Will Lankshear is one of Tottenham’s academy players who has joined Ange Postecoglou’s first team for a pre-season tour of South Korea and Japan.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, the podcast owner said:
“When he has played so far during pre-season, I think he has been brilliant. That finish against Hearts was what Lankshear is all about, and I noticed against QPR, Postecoglou was shouting for him to play a bit deeper.
“I would love nothing more than to see him feature very heavily on this pre-season tour. I’m still unsure of whether Lankshear will head out on loan or stick around the squad.
“Therefore he needs to play during this tour. That is what pre-season should be all about, seeing if these players can fit in among the first-team.”
He penned down a new five-year contract at Hotspur Way, which shows that the club understands the potential that the 19-year-old possesses and also relays the fact that Lankshear sees a bright future for himself at N17.
There is a need for a new centre forward at White Hart Kane, but it is difficult to see the 19-year-old being entrusted with the job as of now.
It is to be seen if Ange believes that the Hotspur Way graduate can feature for the club in some role next season.
