Spurs boss Postecoglou frustrated with slow transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a radiant start to the ongoing transfer window as the Lilywhites have brought in Archie Gray from Leeds United and Lucas Bergvall arrived from Sweden alongside the return of Timo Werner on another loan deal, albeit the North Londoners haven’t been able to replicate similar dynamism in the current stages of the window, and Ange Postecoglou has given a not so encouraging verdict on the transfer dealings.
The Lilywhites have been subject to links with multiple players; however, none of the deals are in conclusive stages at the moment, and the time is running thin as Spurs look to ensure getting the players well before the conclusive stages of the window to ensure that the club goes into the upcoming season with a squad that is both competitive and well-prepared.
And with the clock ticking, Spurs are under increasing pressure to finalize their transfer dealings and ensure that they strengthen their roster.
Postecoglou urges patience amid transfer frustrations
Club head coach Ange Postecoglou has expressed his frustrations with the lack of incomings this summer.
Speaking before the Spurs friendly against Vissel Kobe in Japan, the Australian boss emphasized the need for patience and the importance of discipline in sticking to their transfer strategy in the ongoing window. He did acknowledge that while the supporters would find the ongoing media mill a bit frustrating, the 58-year-old ensured that the club is working behind the scenes to get deals over the line.
Postecoglou said (via. Football. London):
“So, what we started with at the start of summer is still there, and I wouldn’t want to put timelines on it. A lot of that is out of our control, and we just need to be patient. From where I sit at the moment, we’re still in that phase where what we identified is still what we’re after. We’re working hard to bring players in, and it’s a process that you sometimes have to be patient with. But in terms of what we set out to do, that’s still the plan, and you have to stay disciplined with that. Sometimes the timings don’t work out and it doesn’t happen as quickly as you want and you don’t get them (players) in at the right time, but I think it’s really important you stay disciplined and not run off and chase other things.”
