Reguilon’s Tottenham future uncertain amid Sevilla interest
Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, and the Spaniard could potentially make a return to Sevilla ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Reguilon has been demoted down the pecking order in North London over the past couple of seasons, and it looks like the club will look to cash in on his services this summer. The 27-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan away from N17, and he is expected to be on the move with Spanish grants Sevilla regarded as his ‘most likely’ destination, per El Mira.
Reguilon came up the ranks at Real Madrid, and following his breakout season at Santiago Bernabeu, he ended up at Sevilla on a season-long loan.
Pimienta’s need could help Spurs cause
During the 2019/20 season, the Real Madrid academy graduate notched up 38 outings while contributing to 8 goals (5 goals and 3 assists) while leading the Spanish giants to a Europa League triumph.
Given the taste of success he has enjoyed at Sevilla, they would love to have him back.
Tottenham went on to fork out a hefty €30 million fee for Sergio Reguilon on the back of his success at Sevilla. While he enjoyed some success at White Hart Lane, he hasn’t been able to replicate his performances in Spanish football and has become a bits-and-parts player at N17.
With Reguilon not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans, the club is keen on moving him during this summer transfer window.
Sevilla seem to be an ideal destination as they need a new left-back with all three of their current options in the position having one foot out the door. Garcia Pimienta has no alternatives, forcing Sevilla to dip into the transfer market.
