Tottenham ready to battle Chelsea for Osimhen
Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to sign a marquee striker this summer as they look to replace the Harry Kane-shaped void in the focal point of the front line, and while the North Londoners are extensively linked with multiple strikers from around Europe, they may make an attempt to land Napoli’s prolific striker, Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen moved to Napoli in 2020 in a record deal of €77.5 million. His time in Naples has been about growth and silverware, as he achieved significant success at Napoli, particularly in the 2022–23 season.
However, the player is looking to move on from the Italian giants, which is a perfect market opportunity for the North Londoners, considering their need for a new number nine this summer.
The 25-year-old is possibly the most profiled player that the club can sign this summer transfer window. He has the capacity to take on the Kane baton from right where the England international left it.
Levy plots Osimhen raid
The Lilywhites are closely monitoring Napoli’s ace as Spurs’ London rivals Chelsea engage in aggressive negotiations with the Naples-based club over a possible summer move, per Football Insider.
The West Londoners have been discussing a possible cash-plus-player transfer for the Nigerian international, with Romelu Lukaku heading to the Italian side.
In response to Chelsea’s negotiations, Daniel Levy and Tottenham are considering including players of their own in a bid to land Victor Osimhen.
The report also adds that Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is ‘obsessed‘ about landing a new striker this summer.
For Spurs, landing the 25-year-old would be a statement to the Premier League that the new project is more than mere noise at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
He will not only bring much-needed clinical output to the club but also be a highlight of the new era at N17 for years to come.
