Barcelona rue missing out on Bergvall
Spanish outlet Sport suggests that there is a bit of frustration in Barcelona camp for missing out on Lucas Bergvall, especially considering the fact that the Swede has hit the ground running for the North Londoners.
The Spurs faithful have been plenty excited about the potential that Bergvall possesses, and the teenager has been particularly impressive in the Tottenham pre-season so far.
His potential has not only got the Spurs faithful excited but also the pundits on the edge of their seats with the teenager. Journalist Dean Jones, speaking in an interview with the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast last week, suggested that many Lilywhites faithful are expecting the Swede to become a household name at the N17.
Spanish giants kick themselves over Bergvall snub as teenager lights up Spurs pre-season
It is well documented that the club beat out La Liga giants to seal Bergvall’s signatures in the winter window. The player admitted that he preferred a move to the N17 over a move to Barcelona, as he felt that the North Londoners would suit him much better than joining the Catalonia side, per The Athletic.
Sport now acknowledges that Spurs won the race to Bergvall’s signature as they were able to offer a more financially substantial deal to the player and his agent.
The report also points to the fact that the player has made a bright start to his time at N17 and the fact that Barcelona missed out on an exceptional talent in Bergvall.
Writing about the club’s pre-season performances and the teenager’s involvement at White Hart Lane so far, the Spanish publication writes:
“Bergvall made his [full] debut a week ago, playing in the second half of the 2-0 win over QPR, successfully completing 42 of the 48 passes he made.
“The Swede was involved in three of the chances the English team had in the second half. After a promising debut, a minor injury threatened his progress, but in the second pre-season match, this Saturday, he was again the protagonist in the second half against Vissel Kobe in the victory (2-3) of the English team. He was the one who assisted Pedro Porro’s goal.”
While Bergvall is a mega talent, it is to be seen if the player can reach his potential and become a considerable presence at N17 in the upcoming years.
