Tottenham eyeing Manchester City full-back as Emerson Royal replacement this summer

Kabore could be heading to North London

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to snap away Manchester City’s right-back Issa Kabore as a potential addition to their roster going into the next season.

With Emerson Royal on his way out of North London, the club is expected to be looking for a replacement to find a backup to Pedro Porro in the right-back position. And Kabore has emerged as a primary candidate, per Mike McGrath of The Telegraph.

The 23-year-old has a market value of around £12 million this summer, and the Cityzens would be willing to sell for a price close to his valuation.

Kabore enjoyed an impressive season on loan at Luton Town last year and has attracted interest from multiple clubs, including Spurs, especially considering his strong defensive skills in the back line.

The player joined Manchester City in 2020 and spent the following season on loan at Mechelen. The following couple of years came as loans away to Troy and Marseille, where he further honed his skills.

Last summer brought a perfect opportunity to try himself out in the Premiership when Luton Town came knocking. Playing in the English top tier, he made 24 appearances while showcasing his capabilities defensively and establishing himself in the wing-back role on the right flank.

Tottenham’s interest shows that he is harassing potential and capabilities as they look to compound on the ceiling of the squad at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal going into next season.

Any potential move to bring the City starlet to N17 would not only ensure Emerson’s time at the club is over but also give the Australian gaffer an understudy to Porro.
