Tottenham expected to accelerate their transfer plans, claims Fabrizio Romano
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are set for an active period in the transfer market this week.
The Lilywhites have yet to get going during the summer transfer window. They have only signed youngster Archie Gray from Leeds United and extended Timo Werner’s loan deal. The club has also agreed a deal with Gangwon FC to sign South Korean winger Min-hyuk Yang, but it is more of an investment for the future.
It has been very frustrating for Tottenham fans to witness a lack of signings while their rivals significantly bolster their respective squads. However, with the new Premier League season inching closer, things could change.
Speaking on his Playback channel, Fabrizio Romano has given an exciting update for all Tottenham fans.
“I expect Tottenham to be active and busy in the transfer market next week,” Romano said.
Tottenham are planning to accelerate their transfer business in a bid to strengthen their squad after a period of lull. Boss Ange Postecoglou has already stated that his side requires a new centre-forward for the 2024/25 season.
Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has emerged as a target for Spurs of late, as Postecoglou looks to address the Harry Kane-shaped void in his squad. Having allowed Bryan Gil to depart on loan to Spanish side Girona, a new wide forward could also be on the club’s agenda.
The north Londoners endured a disappointing end to their past season after such a promising start, finishing just outside of the Champions League spots and only managing to qualify for the Europa League group stages.
In his debut season, Postecoglou has managed to employ a free-flowing, aggressive and pressing style of football that has been a breath of fresh air for the fans after years of insipid football under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte. The Greek-Australian tactician would want to build on his promising first year and make his team more cohesive on the pitch. For that to happen, he certainly needs more fresh signings.
