Spurs keeping an eye on Wolves star Pedro Neto
Tottenham Hotspur have yet to make any noteworthy additions to the team this summer but need to act soon if they are to nail down a Champions League spot next season having finished fifth in 2023/24.
The club has decided to fully back Ange Postecoglou and it is expected for them to bring in an attacker sooner rather than later in the transfer window.
Give Me Sport has reported that the Lilywhites are impressed by Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto, who has been a revelation over the last few years with the Premier League side. Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of Neto and even called him ‘an incredible player’.
The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all monitoring the former Lazio star alongside Tottenham for the forward. Neto is expected to imminently leave Molineux and join one of the world’s biggest clubs.
His qualities were on display last season as he scored three goals in all competitions and provided 11 assists in a season that was hampered by two separate hamstring injuries.
He is valued at €55 million and has a contract with Wolves until June 2027, which means they hold the chips over his future at least this summer.
Neto would be a fantastic addition at Tottenham, not least for a manager like Postecoglou who embraces dynamic players. The Portuguese international is primarily a right winger but can play across all roles in the final third whilst being a handy attacking midfielder too.
Spurs are currently lacking any influential wingers barring Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski. The Korean is also on the wrong side of the 30s and thus, Neto can be an eventual replacement.
Tottenham Hotspur have the resources to acquire him and Fabrizio Romano expects them to show urgency in the transfer market very soon. Give Me Sport quoted him saying:
“Pedro Neto remains a player really appreciated and very highly rated by Tottenham. So, for sure, he is one of the players they’ve always had on the list. Let’s see if they will decide to accelerate, but I expect Tottenham to be busy starting from next week.”
Though Arsenal, Liverpool and United have kept tabs on Neto, Spurs could be considered as the favourites for his signing if they begin talks with the player and Wolves in the next few days.
Arsenal and Manchester United have alternate priorities for the time being, whereas Liverpool have been extremely lethargic so far in the transfer window and could focus on signing a defender and midfielder if they decide to make moves before the Premier League gets underway.
