Spurs-linked Scott McTominay undecided about future
According to TeamTalk, Man United midfielder Scott McTominay is unsure about his future amidst interest from outside Old Trafford.
The Scotland international has been linked with clubs both within and outside England in recent weeks, with United having received official offers from Galatasaray and Fulham for his signature, which have been rejected.
United want around £40 million for McTominay, whose £60k-a-week contract expires next summer. Back when he managed him, ex-Spurs manager Jose Mourinho provided a rousing endorsement for him.
“He’s a special character, a special personality that a team in a negative moment needs. Do my other players have that mentality? Not all of them. Everybody is a different person. Scott McTominay is a kid with a special character, very humble, aggressive in a positive way, brave, he’s a special kid.”
Spurs also face a challenge from West Ham for McTominay, who was a crucial player for Erik ten Hag last season as he delivered 10 goals and three assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
As per the TeamTalk report, Ten Hag wants McTominay to stay at the club, further adding to the latter’s inability to make a decision, though the new hierarchy may be moved to sell him on to generate pure profit on his departure, especially if they are not keen on offering him a new deal.
Newcastle United have also been linked with the Scotsman in the past.
Spurs should not meet United’s asking price for McTominay
Could McTominay be a fit in Ange Postecoglou‘s system as far as his industry is concerned? Yes. But that is not enough to make United’s asking price for him any less steep, especially when you keep in mind his limited skillset and that he’s in the final year of his contract.

Even with the number of clubs involved, we’re likely to see a reduced base fee agreed for McTominay if he is to leave Old Trafford at all, though the world will not end for Spurs if they miss out on him altogether.
