Spurs eyeing move for Joachim Andersen
Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a move for Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen before the transfer window slams shut.
For most of this summer, Andersen’s centre-back partner Marc Guéhi has been the one subjected to reports of a big-money move to one of the Premier League giants.
According to CaughtOffside, however, Spurs, Liverpool, and Newcastle United are exploring options to poach the Denmark international away from Selhurst Park as well.
Andersen first starred in the Premier League during a season-long loan at Fulham during the 2020/21 season while he was registered with French side Lyon.
His performances that season were enough for the Eagles to move for him, bringing him to England permanently in a €17.5m deal.
In his four years in the Premier League, the ‘fantastic’ Andersen has gone on to establish himself as one of the league’s most reliable defenders despite Palace’s topsy-turvy fortunes and Fulham’s relegation from the league in his first year in the UK.
Andersen has at Palace an £80k-per-week contract that runs until June 2026.
Andersen would be a good foil for Micky van de Ven
Tottenham’s Dutch defender Micky van de Ven is an excellent defender with loads of potential, especially given his pace in transitions, but paired alongside Cristian Romero, the two become a disaster waiting to happen. This is more on Romero, whose pugnacious tendencies leave everyone on the edge.
This is where Andersen comes in. A calmer head, with the composure of a leader and a sublime ability to ping precise long balls out the back, make the Dane an ideal go-to defender for any top European side trying to breach into the highest echelon of the game.

If a fee in the region of €35 million (his valuation by Transfermarkt) can be agreed upon, Andersen would be an absolute bargain for Spurs and a spiritual successor to the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld at the back.
