Reims have slapped a £13m price tag on Amir Richardson amid interest from Tottenham

According to a report from The Athletic, Amir Richardson is free to leave French side Reims for a fee of around £13m this summer amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Morocco have been making international and local headlines with the Olympic team during the Paris 2024 tournament, and Amir Richardson has been a star in the side. In the quarter-finals against USA, he scored a bullet header in the 4-0 win.

However, the Atlas Lion’s campaign in Paris came to an end at the hands of Spain in the semi-finals on Monday. Tottenham were reported to be closely watching the 22-year-old’s performance against Spain, where he played 76 minutes.

The north London outfit are keen on Richardson after his impressive campaign with Reims and Morocco in the Paris Olympics. He was a mainstay in the Reims midfield this past season, bagging three goals and an assist in 28 Ligue 1 appearances. With his displays in the Olympics, the central midfielder gave a further glimpse of quality and an indication that he is ready to perform at the highest level.

Spurs have sold Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Marseille after the player had entered the final year of his contract. This has weakened the depth in their midfield unit, something Ange Postecoglou must address to tackle an arduous and taxing upcoming season.

Richardson, in that regard, would be a good fit for Spurs. The north Londoners are keen on adding players to the squad who can not only make an immediate impact but also become valuable assets for the club in the future. And Richardson certainly falls into that category of players—young, dynamic with international experience and potential to grow.

The three-cap Morocco international can operate anywhere across the middle of the park, adding energy, steel, physicality as well as competition for places within the squad. Due to his long legs and engine, the Nice-born star eats up a lot of ground and such a profile in the team would enable the likes of James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur to influence games more in the final third.

Despite his rise in stock in the Paris Olympics, Richardson valued at around £13m should be a very reasonable figure for his suitors. With newly promoted Leicester City and Everton also interested, Spurs must quickly move and wrap up a deal for Richardson, who has the attributes to thrive in the hustle and bustle of Premier League football.
