Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham admire Manchester City “golden boy”

Manchester City full-back Issa Kabore is appreciated at Tottenham, says Fabrizio Romano

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Manchester City right-back Issa Kabore as they hunt for Emerson Royal’s potential replacement.

AC Milan and Tottenham are close to reaching an agreement for Emerson Royal after weeks and months of tough negotiations. The total cost of the operation is expected to be around €15m, with the Brazilian full-back now waiting for Spurs’ green light to travel to Milan to undergo a medical and sign the official documents.

Despite signing the highly-rated Archie Gray from Leeds United, Fabrizio Romano has exclusively told to GIVEMESPORT that Spurs are eyeing one more player who can cover and compete with undisputed first-choice right-back Pedro Porro. The Italian journalist has revealed that the north Londoners are big admirers of Manchester City’s Issa Kabore, adding him to their list of right-back targets.

“Tottenham would look to fill the gap, for sure, because they have Pedro Porro, but they would need one more player,” Romano told GIVEMESPORT.

“It’s true that Kabore at Manchester City, former Luton Town player, is appreciated by Tottenham.

“But I’m told he is not the only option. So there are several possibilities being considered.”

Kabore spent the last season on loan at Luton Town. The 23-year-old made 24 Premier League appearances for a mediocre Rob Edwards’ side, majorly operating as a right wing-back. He supplied two assists in 1,732 minutes of top-flight action, and after doing reasonably well in a poor Hatters’ side that got relegated at the end of last season, the Burkina Faso international could finally be on the move permanently from Manchester City this summer.

Having joined from Belgian side KV Mechelen in 2020, the right-back/wing-back is yet to make a single senior appearance for Man City. The defending Premier League champions are open to selling Kabore and value him at around £12 million amid interest from various clubs across Europe, including Turkish side Galatasaray. Igor Tudor praised the young fullback, labelling him a “golden boy”.

Man City’s Issa Kabore is a right-back option under consideration at Tottenham

Kabore’s £12 million price tag should be extremely appealing to Spurs, considering he is a player aged just 23 and with one full Premier League season’s experience under his belt. The African full-back could add valuable depth at the right-back position, should Emerson be sold to Milan as projected.

However, Ange Postecoglou should actually turn to one of his squad members Djed Spence to potentially replace Emerson. We are yet to see Spence get a run of games at the club since arriving in north London a few years ago. The Englishman has spent the last 18 months on loan at three different clubs before returning to Spurs earlier this summer.

We must try out Spence as an understudy to Porro for the upcoming season, and if the move works out, our club will end up saving millions. Rather than spending on Kabore, Spurs could use those funds to buy a new striker this summer.
