Bayern Munich pair Harry Kane and Eric Dier to be honoured by Tottenham ahead of the pre-season friendly
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed on their official website that former players Harry Kane and Eric Dier will be presented with “commemorative gifts” by club ambassador Ledley King on Saturday ahead of their friendly clash with Bayern Munich.
Harry Kane and Eric Dier will return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time since leaving the club for Bayern Munich this past season. Spurs are scheduled to play a second pre-season friendly against Bayern, having lost 2-1 in Seoul last week.
“Saturday’s pre-season clash with FC Bayern at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sees a return to N17 of Harry Kane and Eric Dier for the first time since their departures from the Club,” Tottenham’s official statement read.
“We have not previously had the opportunity to bid farewell to two players who have made such a significant contribution to our Club in recent years.
“Ahead of the game, in recognition of their years of service to Tottenham Hotspur, the pair will be presented with commemorative gifts on behalf of the Club by our Ambassador, Ledley King.”
It will be the first time Kane plays against his boyhood club with whom he became one of the best strikers on the planet since leaving for the Bavarian giants last summer. A legend for Spurs, he is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances. In the Premier League, the 30-year-old has netted 213 goals in 320 appearances.
Kane enjoyed a fantastic individual debut season in Bayern colours after ending his long stay with Spurs in 2023. He bagged 44 goals and 12 assists in 45 appearances for the German heavyweights, although the club went trophyless after a very long time. Having been afforded a break after helping England reach the 2024 Euro final in Germany, the striker is back in training.
Meanwhile, Dier left Spurs in the January transfer window on an initial loan deal before completing a permanent switch to the Allianz Arena earlier this summer. The versatile defender had made 365 appearances across all formats for the north London club after joining from Sporting CP in 2014.
The 49-cap England international enjoyed a strong five months in the Bundesliga. He had played a key role in Bayern qualifying for the Champions League semi-finals last season, where they were beaten by eventual champions Real Madrid.
