Ange Postecoglou is slowly yet surely assembling the pieces of his jigsaw. He managed to accomplish one major tab by signing Dominic Solanke although there are doubts about whether Spurs have signed a square peg to fill a round hole.
Solanke is talented, make no mistake but the ex-Bournemouth striker hasn’t been the most prolific goalscorer throughout his career except for his last season under Andoni Iraola. That prolific number nine is exactly what Tottenham were lacking.
There are other areas on the pitch that need to be addressed. They are not necessarily chinks in the armour but more so ensuring that there is an extra screw that can be used when needed. Building an overall squad is important to success.
Why have Tottenham not yet bid for Federico Chiesa?
As per Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio (as per GFNI), Tottenham are yet to make a move to sign Federico Chiesa this summer, despite repeated claims of interest. We even covered a story last week revealing West Ham could battle Spurs for the 26-year-old.

With a contract that expires in less than a year, Chiesa’s price tag is plummeting with every passing day. The Italian international could be available for a £17.1m fee with Juventus needing to get him off their books. The Euro 2020 star finds himself out of favour under Thiago Motta.
Italian legend Giorgio Chiellini was full of praise for Federico Chiesa back when the duo spent time together at Juventus, giving him a rousing endorsement
“Chiesa is a player that could play in every big team in Europe. He could face you 10 times and beat you nine of 10 times! He can go right and left, his pace is amazing. He’s fantastic for that type of job.”
There is not much we could say about Chiesa, could we? When one of the best defenders of his generation thinks that the Italian can beat anyone he faces nine out of ten times with his trickery, there isn’t much left to argue.
Chiesa might be injury-prone. He might not be able to start every single game for Postecoglou’s team. What he brings to the table though outshadows the deficiencies of such a signing. This cannot be understated.
At the price tag that he is being offered, Spurs should jump at the opportunity to sign Chiesa. In fact, any top club in Europe should. Let’s see where the Italian plays his football in the upcoming season.
