Eberechi Eze backed to succeed at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Eberechi Eze’s signing from Crystal Palace for much of the summer. With the transfer window inching towards a close, it is expected that the club will accelerate its transfer business for its targets.
Having already acquired Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, Don Hutchinson anticipates the striker to get along superbly with Eze, if indeed he also arrives in north London.
Hutchinson was quoted saying the following on ESPN FC’s YouTube channel:
“I have noticed the bookmakers have got them odds on to sign Eberechi Eze, the Crystal Palace and England flair player and creator. So those (Solanke and Eze) would be interesting signings.”
Eze, whose wage at Crystal Palace reportedly stands at £100,000 per week, has been described previously as a ‘drunken master’, thanks to his fabulous dribbling capabilities which have helped the Eagles unlock numerous defensively solid units in recent months.
Eze’s meticulous footwork has been tipped to produce the goods in Ange Postecoglou’s high-intensity offence and get the best out of the Australian’s latest acquisition Solanke as well. He has been nicknamed the drunken master by his ex-QPR coach.
The 26-year-old has emerged as one of the finest Premier League wingers and it may only be a matter of time before he joins one of the bigger sides in England.
However, there are doubts over whether Tottenham could get him this summer.
Crystal Palace have already parted company with Michael Olise, who is now a Bayern Munich player and could be staring down the barrel with respect to Marc Guehi’s future as well.
To prevent a mass exodus, it is imperative that they hold onto Eberechi Eze and in their bid to do so, the club might command an unreasonably high asking price for the English international.
Earlier this summer, it was anticipated that the forward’s price tag could be close to £60 million though notably, that was before Olise departed for Germany.
The player’s importance to Palace could also mean that they are not open to the prospect of letting him depart with the Premier League season less than a week away from getting underway.
Plus, having spent £55 million on Dominic Solanke without making any significant sales in recent weeks, it remains to be seen if Spurs have enough money to fund Olise’s transfer as well.
