Tottenham inform 25-year-old of pecking order change with possible transfer on the cards

Ange Postecoglou has ample talents at his disposal, and he would be looking to ensure that the best of those talents are utilized while the ones with restricted minutes are either loaned or sold to ensure the players’ development in the best possible manner.

The goalkeeping department is the trickiest of them all, with only one player playing throughout the season and a couple of understudy players who barely get any opportunities.

Preseason indicates Whiteman’s time at Tottenham could be up

One of those is Alfie Whiteman, who could be on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer window. John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, believes that Brandon Austin will be ahead of the 25-year-old in the pecking order at N17 in the upcoming summer window and expects him to be sold ahead of the transfer deadline later this month.

Brandon Austin has featured for the North Londoners in all five of their pre-season outings, with Whiteman only limited to one appearance. Wenham believes this to be a sign of things to come, especially considering the contract situation of the former at the moment.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:

“It seems as though Whiteman might also be moved on. I think it has been made clear to him that Austin is in front of him in the pecking order at the club. He has a year to go on his contract, and this might therefore be the best time for him to move on from Tottenham. I think some real pecking order decisions were made on this recent pre-season tour.”

Both

of the aforementioned goalies have spent their careers in North London after coming through the ranks at Hotspur Way. Though neither has their name cemented between the posts on the first team yet, it looks like at least one of them could be moved on.

Vicario is undisputed with gloves at White Hart Lane; however, Fraser Forster’s backup spot could soon be up for grabs. At the moment, it looks like Austin will take over that role soon.
