The marquee-striking figure has arrived at Tottenham Hotspur as the club announces the arrival of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in a deal worth £65 million.

His arrival concludes the number nine bee that Ange Postecoglou was vouching to acquire in the ongoing summer transfer window; however, this is just a start to the ample debates that are going to follow at least for the first half of the season.
The club had been linked with multiple strikers over the summer, with each name being more formidable than the other. One of them was Brentford ace Ivan Toney, and former Spurs striker Daren Bent thinks that the Lilywhites have made a mistake with acquiring the 26-year-old over Ivan Toney.
Toney snubbed?
Bent has acknowledged the quality that Solanke possesses while appreciating how he has turned his career around; however, he insists that Toney would have offered more to the club under Ange Postecoglou.
While he expressed his disappointment at not signing Toney, he was also vocal about how having a proper forward under Ange is an exciting prospect going into a new campaign.
The pundit speaking in an interview with talkSPORT said:
“I almost feel like now that Solanke has found himself at the Premier League level. Under this Ange football, it will be interesting to see what a proper centre-forward could do.
“It’s actually quite similar (their age). I just think looking at the stats sheet and the way Toney plays and the way Solanke plays. I just feel maybe you know you are getting more with Toney. I know Solanke has had an unbelievable season – I just think you know what you are getting with Ivan Toney.
“His last three seasons. He has four goals last season, but we know he had the ban. He scored 20 the year before that and 12 when he first got to the Premier League. You need someone up there who will score you goals and is comfortable with their back to play and can bring others into play.
“Also, someone who has that arrogance to go ‘I am here now. I am the main man. I can score goals. Not somebody who can shrink a little bit and I think Ivan Toney could do that.”
While Toney is more clinical in front of the goal and is better with back to the goal, Solanke’s drifting profile fits well into Ange’s system. It will be exciting to watch how Solanke fares in the next season.
