As the summer transfer window nears slamming shut, Tottenham amp up their pursuit of players, especially the ones that can immediately slot into the starting XI.
Dominic Solanke has been roped in, but with some of their forwards heading for the exit door, Spurs are keen on reinforcements.
And they have identified Kingsley Coman as one such player.
Tottenham monitoring Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman
As revealed on KS1 TV, the Lilywhites could turn to the France international, who incidentally has been considering leaving international football, to boost their attack.
The 28-year-old has been subject to interest from multiple clubs after missing out on a league trophy last season for the first time in his career.
The Bavarian giants have been reportedly looking for €50 million to let him go. Coman moved to Bayern seven summers ago from Juventus in a €21m move. In that time, he has played for them 294 times, producing 63 goals and 66 assists.
Coman currently has a €17m-per-year contract, approximating to around £279k a week, keeping him at the Allianz Arena until June 2027.
Talk about expensive gambles
Both Coman’s asking price and wages are going to be a challenge for Tottenham, with Daniel Levy particularly famous for his frugality, though he has broken the bank recently to land Dominic Solanke.
Yet this feels too much of a stretch, even if Coman would fit Ange Postecoglou’s preference for forwards that can play both out wide and centrally. Also, the Frenchman’s injury record speaks for itself.
