Daniel Levy is known for his frugality and shrewd transfer strategies.
One such move was the sale of Marcus Edwards. The former club academy graduate was sold for €1.25 million to Primeira Liga side Vitória Guimarães five years ago with a 50% sell-on clause, which Spurs already benefited from when he moved to Sporting two years ago for €7.75 million.
They did, however, reduced their sell-on component to 35% to facilitate the signing of Sporting’s Pedro Porro, and that clause could bring them more windfall before the ongoing transfer window slams shut.
Marcus Edwards moving to Juventus would bring Tottenham 35% of transfer fee
As reported by Football London, Juventus are likely to make a move for Marcus Edwards after missing out on Man United forward Jadon Sancho.
Sancho, who was reintegrated into the United first team setup by Erik ten Hag earlier this summer after their very public fallout last year, has featured regularly for United in the pre-season, though he remains linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with PSG touted as a likely destination.
Juve, who were interested in him, have thus set their eyes on Edwards, who according to Fabrizio Romano is available for around €25m (£21.4m).
The 25-year-old diminutive winger has received praise in recent years most prominently because of his exceptional dribbling skills, with English pundit Owen Hargreaves having said this about him not too long ago:
“On the ball, dribbling at people, he’s up there.
“He leaves people for dead. Technically he’s fantastic.
“The young man has so much ability with the ball at his feet, makes it look easy.”

Edwards currently has at Sporting a €1.38m-per-year contract set to run until June 2026.

Say what you will about Levy, the man knows how to set his transfers.
Spurs have a lot of issues going against them, but having a shrewd negotiator like him is not one of them, though he does get swept up in the “Spurs aren’t good because they don’t win anything” discourse.

Despite the pandemonium, Spurs are better off having him on their side, though there is no doubt that there’s room for improvement on his part as well.
