Tottenham Hotspur have added to their offensive ranks in the ongoing summer transfer window. The Lilywhites came into the transfer window with signing a marquee striker as a priority during the off-season, and they had been linked with ample centre forwards from around Europe before settling on a £65 million deal for Dominic Solanke.
While the North Londoners opted for the ex-Liverpool ace, Brentford’s number nine, Ivan Toney, was a close second choice, with many Spurs faithful still believing that he was a better option than ‘Big Dom’ this summer in a cheaper price range.
Ivan Toney faces a significant career crossroads
The England international who represented the Three Lions at the Euro 2024 had been linked with a move to Spurs over the summer, albeit the officials at Hotspur Way found the £60m too hefty for his services.
With the Lilywhites securing their number nine this summer, it opens up potential possibilities for Toney, and one of the highly talked about prospects is a potential move to the Saudi Pro League.
The Middle East side Al-Ahli is ready to tempt the former Newcastle United striker into a £46.3 million salary package, per Foot Mercato.
They are offering a mammoth 18 million euros per year with a three-year contract, which works out to a 54 million euros (46.3 million pounds) package over the period of his contract.
Brentford star faces Al-Ahli lure
This is a deal too hefty to not consider. The money aforementioned is not talked about in the Premier League, despite it being the most exciting league in the world. However, that is the pull of Al-Ahil, and it could be too good for Toney to not consider.
Having said that, he may look to play in the Premier League through his prime years before considering a move away from the English top tier or the top five football leagues in Europe.
