Intro
Tottenham Hotspur kick off their 2024/25 Premier League season against the newly-promoted Leicester City this coming Monday at the King Power.
Goes with saying that the two sides will want to do better than their last respective league campaigns. The Foxes, champions of the league no more than eight years ago, will want to avoid relegation at the very least this time round, while the Lilywhites will want to do everything in their power to break into the top four and not fizzle out towards the end of the season like last time.
Ahead of the clash at Monday, here are some key things to keep in mind.
Injury news and absences
Tottenham Hotspur
Yves Bissouma has been suspended by the club for Monday’s game. Fraser Forster is unlikely to make the bench due to a broken foot, while Richarlison is nursing a calf injury and is also unlikely to feature.
Leicester City
Veteran defender Conor Cady is out until September with a muscle knock. Forwards Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka are also unavailable until next month, while reserve goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk is on the sidelines long term and not expected to return before next year.

Head-to-head
Since the start of the 1996/97 season, the two sides have faced each other 36 times, of which Spurs have won 16 and lost 14, with six encounters ending in a draw.
Biggest win and loss
Tottenham’s biggest win against the Foxes came early in the 2022/23 season as they came out 6-2 victorious. Son Heung-min was the hero on the day with a hattrick.
In the return encounter, however, Leicester handed Spurs the biggest defeat they have ever inflicted on them with a 4-1 score line, which signalled the end nearing of Antonio Conte‘s reign at Spurs, which would ultimately come to pass a month later.

All five recent encounters between the two sides have come about in the Premier League, with Spurs having won four of them, albeit Leicester won the most recent one.
Prediction
Spurs showed us last year that they are likely to come out all guns blazing. Expect them to do the same this time round.
Leicester have the ingredients to avoid relegation this time round, but theirs will be a baptism of fire at the King Power on Monday as they stare into an opening-day defeat.
Score line prediction: Leicester 1-4 Spurs
