Of the many players Spurs have been linked with this summer, Eberechi Eze is arguably one of the hottest prospects.
The 26-year-old England international has continued attracting interest from multiple Premier League giants.
However, recent updates indicate that the Lilywhites’ pursuit of the Palace winger nicknamed the ‘drunken master’ has been dealt a double blow.

Tottenham dealt blow in Eberechi Eze pursuit as Man City make call despite release clause expiry
As clarified recently by Fabrizio Romano, the release clause in Eberechi Eze’s current contract, valued at around £60 million, has expired, with none of his closely following suitors choosing to activate it.
This is the first major blow for Tottenham, with Palace having been looking for a fee in the region of £68 million to let him go as of last month. The expiry of the release clause, coupled with the fact that Eze has three years remaining on his £100k-a-week Palace contract, means the Eagles are suitably placed to stand firm on their stance.
The other blow for Spurs comes in the form of Man City, their closest competitors for Eze’s signature who, as reported by Football London, could yet make a move for him late in the window. Julián Álvarez has left Manchester to move to Atlético Madrid and Oscar Bobb, who recently starred in the FA Community Shield, has broken his leg in training and is looking at a long period on the medical table, putting City in a position of desperation as they attempt to reinforce and gun for the league title for a fifth consecutive year.

A blow for Tottenham, a blow for the Premier League
Firstly, best wishes ought to go to Bobb and one hopes he makes a full recovery.
Now, keeping in mind that City have not made a blockbuster signing this summer, a move for Eze becomes even more likely. Also, Eze is 26, not exactly a youngster with several years in front of him, so if such an offer comes his way, one can expect him to go for it.
For the sake of neutrals, one hopes City don’t win the league this season, but the chances of that happening will be further dashed if they manage to land Eze before the window shuts.
