Tottenham Hotspur finally have an interesting lot of academy players at Hotspur Way, and the task at Daniel Levy’s table is to ensure that all of them take levels in their development in the upcoming season, be it at the club or away from North London.
The club has already concluded on deciding the immediate futures of multiple academy graduates, and the next one in line to seal his next club is Kieran Trippier, likened to defender Ashley Phillips.
Ashley Phillips to Spain?
Ashley Phillips has been linked with a move to Spanish side Getafe lately, with the La Liga side said to have made signing the 19-year-old a priority for the ongoing window. The Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate is open to opportunities away from England, and Spurs are open to negotiating a potential loan move away from the club this summer.
The player had a successful spell away from the club at English tier-two outfit Plymouth Argyle in the past campaign, and his performances for the Devon-based side led to a call-up to the England U20.
Trippier 2.0?
Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas and Michael Bridge compared the player to former Spurs defender Kieran Trippier, saying:
“Merse, remember about 20 years ago we spoke about a young full-back called Mr. Trippier? I’ve got another one for us. Ashley Phillips, 18 years old, on loan from Spurs, centre-back, boy’s going to be a superstar!”

The loan move away to the Spanish top-tier side would be a step up for Ashley Phillips from the English second-tier, and he would be looking to make this opportunity count and open up a way into Ange Postecoglou‘s side. And Getafe is looking to go all in to land his signatures this summer, per Fichajes.
We will see how the rumours progress as we head into the conclusive weeks of the transfer window.
