Tottenham in line for £7m windfall as ex-winger closes in on Serie A transfer

Daniel Levy is a smart businessman, and time and time again he has proved how his smart dealing led to Tottenham Hotspur reaping rewards for a long time, and he may have done it again as the North Londoners are set for another payday for a transfer that Levy sanctioned two years ago.

The Lilywhites would be keen on getting as many amounts credited in the bank account as they look to reinvest in the squad and ensure Ange Postecoglou’s squad is ready to fight big and deep in the brand new Premier League campaign.

Levy’s smart deal to pay off for Tottenham

Multiple reports have suggested that former Spurs player Marcus Edwards could be on his way to the Italian top tier, with Juventus expressing interest in his signatures.

There have also been reports suggesting the Lilywhites keenness to resign Edwards earlier this summer. The club could have signed the winger on a discount; however, they opted against signing him. The club still has a 35 percent sell-on clause if he were to change clubs this summer.

Now, Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has taken to social media to reveal that Thiago Motta’s side are keen on bringing in a new winger this summer, and Edwards is one of the names they are looking to sign.

Fab’s words have been backed up by A Bola stating that Juventus are keen on adding the England international to the Allianz Stadium this summer.

However, Edwards has been demanding a fee of around €25 million for the 25-year-old this summer. If he were to move for the aforementioned fee, the Lilywhites would take a share of about £7.25m owing to the release clause they have in the Edwards contract.

Postecoglou has been keen on a wide player all summer; however, looking at the fee that the club would command for his services, it doesn’t come as a surprise that they didn’t opt to sign him. And now the club is stated sweetly in a deal where they could take a hefty profit for any substantial move that Marcus makes, be it this summer or next.
