There is excitement within Tottenham over the summer signing Archie Gray

Summer recruit Archie Gray will be hoping to make his competitive Tottenham Hotspur debut against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Monday evening.

The talented Englishman joined the Lilywhites for a fee of £40m from Leeds United earlier this summer, with defender Joe Rodon, who spent last season on loan at Elland Road, heading the other way for £10m.

Archie Gray, who made his senior debut for Leeds United last August, played a pivotal role in the club’s push for promotion to the Premier League, making 52 appearances across all competitions. Ultimately, the Whites’ hopes of returning to the top flight were extinguished following defeat to Southampton in the play-off final.

The 18-year-old, who is valued at around €18m, made the move to Spurs after Leeds had to make a sale before the deadline to comply with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). As Spurs sensed a deal could be done, they acted swiftly and sealed his signing in early July. Leeds’ loss is the North London club’s gain as we now have our hands on a teenage prodigy waiting to explode at the highest level.

Transfer insider Paul O Keefe has now revealed that the Tottenham staff and people within the club are buzzing with excitement over the acquisition of the highly-rated English talent. Replying to a fan’s tweet on Gray, O Keefe wrote from his X account: “The staff at club absolutely rave about him. They can’t believe we got him. They are buzzing.”

The excitement is palpable within the club and fans regarding Gray’s talent and high potential. The Durham-born starlet’s primary strength lies in his versatility. Under the tutelage of Daniel Farke at Leeds last season, he demonstrated his ability to excel in both central midfield and at right-back.

Technically gifted and a good reader of the game regardless of being so young, Gray impressed in the pre-season tour of South Korea and demonstrated that he is more than ready to start games for Spurs. He can partner Pape Matar Sarr in the middle of the park as well as push first-choice right-back, Pedro Porro.
