Jose Mourinho wants to sign Tottenham outcast Giovani Lo Celso

Jose Mourinho is not fondly remembered by Tottenham fans and within reason. The club did not treat the Portuguese icon in the most ceremonious ways but all that the legendary managerial figure has done is take digs at Spurs since he was sacked.

The ex-Man Utd manager was brought in to replace Mauricio Pochettino, a manager known for his penchant to play attacking football. Fans always did not like the pragmatism that came about with Mourinho’s football but would have understood it had the results been favourable.

The only thing Spurs faithful would remember fondly from Mourinho’s time here is that he Harry Kane played his best-ever football under the Portuguese tactician. Could the 61-year-old however do a favour for us this summer?

Help us with Gio, Jose!

Tottenham are desperately trying to move Giovani Lo Celso on this summer and Mourinho could be about to help us out with it. As per SPORX, the Fenerbahce manager has made a personal request to sign the 28-year-old Copa America winner this summer.

The report adds that the player has a market value of around €16m which is quite a steal for a player of his quality. However, Mourinho will know that his transfer target also has interest from high-profile clubs like Aston Villa and Real Betis.

Lo Celso as we’ve seen so many times while playing for Argentina is a delight to watch. The diminutive playmaker is excellent with his body orientation, often enabling him to turn under pressure and find a pass at will.

Surely, there will be bidders for a player who provided his country’s trophy-clinching assist in the recently concluded Copa America. It all comes down to whether they offer enough money to get Tottenham’s blessing.

It’s quite a crime that Lo Celso hasn’t reached his true heights at the N17. At a different time under different coaches, the ex-Real Betis man could have been a star in North London but let’s hope he can become a star figure at the next club he chooses to join for his career.
