Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to sign a new right-back in the ongoing summer transfer window as the North Londoners look to secure a potential understudy to Pedro Porro. The club has lost Emerson Royal to AC Milan, and they would now be looking to secure a backup in the right-back slot going into the new campaign.
Ange Postecoglou does have Djed Spence in the filler role in the right-sided fullback position following his impressive performances in the recently concluded pre-season. However, Spence has been subject to consistent links with a move away from Spurs, and former Lilywhites defender Alan Hutton thinks that the club could be looking to bring former Tottenham Way full-back Kyle Walker-Peters to the N17.
Walker-Peters linked with Tottenham return amid Spence uncertainty
The Southampton defender had been linked with a move to Spurs earlier this summer, with multiple reports suggesting that Ange Postecoglou & Co. were monitoring the 27-year-old this summer. (h/t Fabrizio Romano)
While Hutton acknowledged that Porro would remain as the first choice at White Hart Lane but suggested that Walker-Peters would be a perfect backup to the Spaniard if Spence were to bid adieu in the coming days.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Hutton said:
“Porro is your number one fullback. I’ve always liked Djed Spence. I don’t know why it didn’t work out when he made his move from Nottingham Forest; I thought he was really attacking. I know the fullbacks have to do different jobs under Ange Postecoglou, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I had never seen Emerson Royal as a regular starter. I thought going forward he was ok, but defensively I wasn’t convinced by him.”

“They might look to bring somebody in; I know there’s been rumours about Kyle Walker-Peters coming back. He knows the club, knows the team, and it could be something that possibly happens. They’re probably looking; unless Spence is to leave, then they’ll need to bring somebody in.”
Will Peters agree to a Tottenham return?
Any probable move for Kyle Walker-Peters makes perfect sense on paper, as he already knows the club inside out, and that could make Ange’s job a lot easier.
However, question marks remain over whether he would want to be a mere backup option and move away from a club where he is starting week in and week out.
There will be ifs and buts, though nothing comes into question till Djed Spence departs, and at the moment that looks unlikely as Ange looks to give the former Middlesbrough defender an opportunity to shine.
