Tottenham Hotspur have been pushing to get surplus players out the door this summer, and as we come closer to the conclusion of the summer transfer window, Daniel Levy has been ensuring to get the players moving.
He has recently sanctioned a £20 million mega-money transfer for Hotspur Way academy graduate Oliver Skipp, and now the Spurs chairman is looking at Giovani Lo Celso, who has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Argentine has already been told that he is no longer part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans at N17 and that he needs to find himself a new club this summer.
Lo Celso exit nears as Spurs look to cash in
And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reiterated that Gio is eager to follow Skipp’s footsteps out of the Lilywhites setup. The Italian journalist acknowledged the interest that Lo Celso has been getting from Real Betis and Aston Villa of late. However, he also states that the situation is open at the moment and other teams may make a late attempt to land his signatures this summer.
Speaking to Daily Briefing, the Italian journalist said:

“Aston Villa and Real Betis are interested, but there could be more clubs; it’s an open situation with these two clubs leading the race. But it’s really open, and there could be surprises. For sure, Lo Celso wants to leave Tottenham, and his plan is clear.”
Tottenham looking to sell the Argentine before the deadline
Spurs are keen to part ways with Lo Celso, with his contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium running until next summer, and the club would be willing to sanction a transfer rather than risk losing him for free in twelve months’ time.
Despite showing flashes of his potential, Gio has endured a difficult time in his spell at White Hart Lane, and he could finally make himself free of those troubles as a potential transfer away from Spurs comes close.

For Tottenham, it would be ideal to create an auction-like situation to sanction his exit. However, we will see how that progresses in the upcoming weeks.
