Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to bring in a new defender before the conclusion of the summer transfer window as the North Londoners look to progress towards excellence under Ange Postecoglou.
The North Londoners have already brought in some exceptional players during the ongoing window, and Daniel Levy will look to ensure that he leaves no stone unturned going into the new season.
Tottenham consider late move for free agent Sergi Roberto
Tottenham have been looking to sign an understudy to Pedro Porro after losing Emerson Royal to AC Milan earlier in the summer. The Lilywhites do have Djed Spence, who increasingly looks probable to continue at North London beyond the conclusion of the ongoing off-season.
And former Spurs scout Bryan King suggests that the club should consider bringing Sergi Roberto to White Hart Lane before the turn of the month.
This comes after Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo reported that the club is looking to bring the free agent to N17 this summer.
King & Messi endorses Sergi
King insists that the club has signed an ample number of young players who cannot be thrown into the far end when things start falling apart, which calls for an experienced figure to water the fire.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“They must do [sign an experienced player].
“They can’t only just bring in kids because if things do go wrong, you can’t use the best youngsters you have brought in all in one hit.
“These players have got to be nurtured and brought in at different times of the season, which suits the club and player.
“Spurs’ back four at this moment in time is quite solid, they seem to have cover in most positions, and if they are going to bring in experience, these are the kind of players that you need to bring in.”
Roberto has a fantastic record behind him and was held in high regard by Leo Messi, possibly the best player to ever touch the ball. Messi said during Roberto’s peak days: “You have become one of the best full-backs in the world.”
For Tottenham, it only looks likely to move for Roberto if Spence were to call time on his time at the club before the window draws curtains. But if Messi says so, who are we to argue? Levy, get it done.
