Tottenham delighted with the impact of Lucas Bergvall

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a solid summer transfer thus far, raising the ceiling of the squad by adding young talents with huge potential to grow. They have brought in some exciting players during the ongoing transfer window, and chairman Daniel Levy will try to ensure that Ange Postecoglou has a squad good enough to compete for trophies this season.

Of course, with 10 days still left for the transfer window to slam shut, more signings could still arrive. Spurs have been looking to bring in a new midfielder before the conclusion of the summer transfer window especially after the sale of Oliver Skipp to newly promoted Leicester City.

However, the arrival of new boy Lucas Bergvall in particular may have altered Tottenham’s thinking. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are “very happy” with the impact of Lucas Bergvall and are still contemplating whether to sign a new midfielder.

“They are very happy with Lucas Bergvall, the impact of Bergvall has been excellent, and they believe they signed a top, top talent for present and future, ready for Premier League impact,” Fabrizio Romano exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.

“So they are still considering that internally.”

One of the most exciting young talents in European football, Bergvall was signed by Spurs in an £8.5m deal from Djurgardens back in January. They hijacked Barcelona’s pursuit of the Swedish prodigy and convinced him to become a part of Ange Postecoglou’s booming project in N17.

Regardless of meeting with Barcelona, he opted to join Spurs, and after staying with Djurgardens for the second half of the season, the creative midfielder officially joined our club in July. Bergvall, off the back of a strong campaign in the Swedish top flight, impressed in the pre-season tour for Spurs.

The 2006-born talent—a silky and elegant dribbler— was heavily involved in the pre-season and gave glimpses of huge promise of what Spurs fans can expect in the future. Midfield is a key area for Postecoglou and the exits of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tanguy Ndombele and Oliver Skipp have weakened the options.

However, the positive impact of Bergvall have altered the thinking at the club. Now, it seems the Lilywhites are less inclined to push for a new central midfielder, even though anything can happen between now and the end of the month.

The Sweden international has the world at his feet, and if he stays focused, humbled and develops under Postecoglou’s watchful eyes, our decision to invest in his signature eight months ago would represent a masterstroke.
