“Absolutely his fault” – Tottenham star berated for dismal showing against Leicester City

published :

Tottenham Hotspur endured a difficult start to the campaign as Leicester City secured a 1-1 draw against the Lilywhites at the King Power stadium.

The North Londoners have been looking to build on the success they enjoyed under Ange Postecoglou last season; however, starting the season with a draw against a newly promoted team isn’t the result Spurs faithful would have wanted.

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed signings, transfers in, out, loan exits, releases for 2024/25

For Tottenham, right-back Pedro Porro opened the scoring and was the sole goalscorer of the night, while Jamie Vardy equalised for the Foxes in the second half to split points.

And Spurs centre-back Cristian Romero, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the ongoing summer transfer window, has been on the receiving end of criticisms for letting Vardy score.

Postecoglou’s Tottenham starts season with a stumble

Former Lilywhites scout Bryan King expressed his frustration for the Argentine’s defensive lapse as he lost track of the Englishman, which eventually led to Steve Cooper’s side scoring.

King did acknowledge how the vice-captain has been held in high regard and suggests that such a lapse of judgement is very uncharacteristic of the Argentine.

The pundit also insists that Romero’s mistake eventually gave the Foxes confidence to get passes together and threaten a winner in the dying minutes.

While such errors are uncommon and uncharacteristic of Romero, King, in an exclusive interview with the Tottenham News, went on to suggest that the former Atalanta man should avoid such mistakes going ahead.

Bryan King said:

“I don’t know where Romero was for Leicester’s goal, he was caught ball-watching. It was absolutely his fault. We’re talking about a World Cup winner, someone who performed very well for the club last season.”

“He got pulled across and forgot Vardy was still in the box, which resulted in the striker equalising and then suddenly there was a period where Spurs were hanging on.”

The North Londoners now prepare to face Everton at White Hart Lane next weekend, and Ange would be hoping to get their first win of the season in front of fans at N17.
