Tottenham Hotspur have been vying for a new midfielder in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Daniel Levy is looking to add quality to his side, which gets more possible with the North Londoners’ recent £20 million sale of Oliver Skipp. He is not the only midfielder that the club has lost; Spurs also lost Pierre Emile Hojbjerg earlier this summer as Gio Lo Celso continues to be linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.
The Lilywhites have also lost their premier summer target, Conor Gallagher, who has snubbed a move to Spurs to move abroad, with Atletico Madrid snapping his signature.
Now, Ange Postecoglou has been looking at Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.
Tottenham’s Ramsey bid
Ramsey has been subject to intensive links from Spurs. However, former Spurs player Paul Robinson insists that the North Londoners would struggle to land the starlet’s signatures in the ongoing transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur confirmed signings, transfers in, out, loan exits, releases for 2024/25
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Robinson said:
“He’s a top-quality player, but I struggle to see a deal happening between Spurs and Villa, with both vying for a Champions League spot this season. Solanke coming in will mean that Son Heung-Min will drop into the left-hand side. They’ve also got Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner, and Ramsey is a very similar player to what they’ve already got.”
Spurs midfield plans in tatters?
With only ten days of the summer window left, Spurs would be looking to fortify their interest in landing their ideal midfielder. But Robinson insists that the club has too many players who embody Ramsey-esque roles in Postecoglou’s squad.
Ramsey possesses extreme talents, and Villa are looking to keep hold of him amid interest from Spurs. We saw a glimpse of his potential as he made an early mark in the season against West Ham, where he gave an assist to Jhon Duram after coming off the bench.
