Manor Solomon may depart Tottenham on loan amid Marseille links

Injury-prone winger Manor Solomon is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a decent summer transfer window in terms of incomings but there is still scope for further additions before the August 30 deadline. The club has also let go of some players and remain open to offloading a few more to trim the wage bill of the squad.

Ange Postecoglou has done a brilliant job at the club since taking the reins in 2023. He has been unforgiving in his decision-making about shaping the squad, and if Tottenham are to successful, Postecoglou has to make some further tough calls from now on and until the end of the window.

Winger Manor Solomon has been placed on the chopping block this summer. The Israel international could depart N17 on loan in the final week of the summer transfer window amid interest from several clubs including Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now, Football London’s Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold has provided an update on the future of Manor Solomon. In a Q&A session with the Tottenham fans, Alasdair Gold has claimed that the 25-year-old is wanted by the Ligue 1 club but he prefers to stay in England and compete at the highest level.

“There’s no place really for Manor Solomon. He’s got interest from Marseille in France, but I think he would prefer to stay in the UK. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a loan with an option to buy for him because people will need to see him in action first,” Gold replied to a fan asking about for an update on Solomon’s future at the club.

Solomon impressed in his season-long loan at Fulham from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in 2022/23, prompting Tottenham to splash the cash and hand him a £60k-a-week five-year contract last summer. Despite enjoying a strong start to his life in north London, he suffered a season-ending meniscus injury in October last year.

The 25-year-old only fully recovered last month and was involved with Spurs during pre-season. The winger was an unused substitute in Spurs’ last three friendlies and he was not a part of the travelling squad that face newly-promoted Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday.

Manor Solomon is not a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans at Tottenham

As Solomon isn’t injured at the moment, him not featuring in the squad against the Foxes clearly suggests that Big Ange is open to letting him go. It will be difficult to see clubs splashing cash to sign the Israeli attacker right away, owing to his injury record. So, the best scenario that could happen is clubs offering loan deals with an option to buy—a sentiment also echoed by Gold.

As things stand, Solomon isn’t a part of Big Ange’s plans at Spurs and should move on to pastures new to resurrect his stuttering career.
