The supporters will be over the moon following Spurs’ latest performance in the Premier League as the North Londoners got one better of Everton at White Hart Lane yesterday.

The Lilywhites started the Premiership campaign with a draw against Leicester City at King Power Stadium. Essentially, it is a game that Tottenham were expected to win, although things didn’t work their way and the points were shared against the Premier League newcomers.

Coming into the Everton fixture, things got trickier as marquee summer arrival Dominic Solanke pulled out with an ankle injury and was forced to miss the game against the Merseyside Blues.

While Tottenham lost one player, they gained one. Yves Bissouma returned from an internal suspension to make his first appearance of the Premier League season, and he did it with a bang, quite literally. The Mali international scored a banger to open the scoring yesterday.

He showed exactly what the Spurs missed in the first game as he put in an exemplary performance yesterday. And Ange Postecoglou spoke about the 27-year-old and how he needs to maintain discipline on and off the pitch.

Bissouma banger sparks Spurs to victory

The Australian boss, speaking in the post-game press conference, said: (via. Football.London)

“Yeah, Biss was good and we know Biss is a good footballer. It’s about him being the best version of himself and he will only get there if, as we’ve spoken a few times, discipline is a big thing for him and I thought it was a disciplined performance for him today you know. Not just the goal he scored, but he had a really important job for us. He knew they’d sort of play fairly direct and he had to be there to mop up second balls and intercept things and he was clean for the most part in possession. So good performance.”

The former Celtic boss also spoke about how goal-scoring can become a regular part of the former Brighton ace’s game.

It was an emphatic win for the hosts as they now prepare to visit St. James Park next weekend, which will be a tricky game to get around, and it will need another strong performance from Yves Bissouma if the Lilywhites are to take anything out of it.
