£20k-per-week star linked with Tottenham and Everton: Guardiola provides latest update

The 2024/25 season is well underway across Europe, though the transfer window remains open for a few more days.

Tottenham, in particular, are keen to make a senior acquisition or two in order to bolster their chances of improving upon last season’s exploits.

To that end, we have an update regarding one of the players they have been linked with in recent weeks.

Issa Kaboré to stay put, says Pep Guardiola

Man City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed, as reported by City Xtra, that Issa Kaboré is to remain at the Etihad for the coming season.

The versatile Burkina Faso international, capable of playing both out wide and in central defence, has had a flurry of loan spells ever since arriving in Manchester from Belgian side Mechelen four summers ago, the latest one being in the Premier League last season with Luton Town, which saw him make 26 appearances across all competitions.

Kaboré’s performances with the Hatters, despite their relegation, has attracted interest from the Premier League, with Tottenham and Everton eyeing a move for the 23-year-old before the transfer window slams shut. AS Roma out in Italy are also in the mix for him.

Valued by Transfermarkt at €10 million, Kaboré’s £20k-per-week contract at City expires next summer as per Capology

A blow Tottenham can survive

Kaboré is reaching an age where he can no longer be sufficed with a bench-warming role. And given City are very good at moving on the players they deem surplus to requirements, one can expect them to get some money for him in return instead of losing him for free.

There is a chance he may be handed a new contract only to be moved on in the near future, but Spurs have a chance here to make a bargain signing by moving for him in the final days of the transfer window.

That said, this is a signing they can live without given the players they already have at their disposal.
