Transfer activity across Europe is only amping up as the window nears its close.
Tottenham, having focused mostly on teenage players for the majority of this window, are likely to try signing a few more senior players before the window slams shut.
For the time being, however, they are set to miss out on another one of their long-time targets.
Once Tottenham-linked Teun Koopmeiners on his way to Juventus
As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Teun Koopmeiners is on his way to Juventus from Atalanta.
The 26-year-old has been building quite a reputation for himself during his time in Italy with the Bergamaschi, which has seen him deliver 29 goals and 15 assists in 129 appearances despite occupying a relatively deeper midfield role.
The Netherlands international arrived in Bergamo three summers ago from AZ Alkmaar in a €14m move. He was also heavily linked with a move to Tottenham earlier this year during the January transfer window.
Koopmeiners’ Atalanta contract fetched him €1.92 million per year, roughly £31,000 every week. (Source: Capology)
Can’t win every battle
One of the basic rules of the transfer market is that you’re not going to get every player you go after. Tottenham have done reasonably well in terms of player acquisition this summer, but understandably there are a few that have gotten away.
That said, what Juve are building under Thiago Motta is also a very interesting prospect.
