Tottenham view Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White as more of a deeper midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur have had an extremely busy summer transfer window, both in terms of incomings and outgoings. They have added some exciting talents to Ange Postecoglou’s squad whilst managing to offload most of the deadwood.
Spurs, however, may not be done just yet. After breaking their transfer record to bring in Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, Daniel Levy and his team may just have an ace up their sleeve.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham are planning to do more business before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month. He expects the north London club to be busy in the last couple of days of the window to fortify the depth of the squad.
It is believed that Big Ange and his bosses at the club are targeting a move for a new central midfielder. The £20m plus sale of Oliver Skipp to Leicester City has provided them with funds to spend late in the window, and Big Ange wants his club to move for a central midfielder.

And now reliable journalist Dean Jones states that Tottenham have their eye on Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White. Speaking on Ranks FC Podcast, Dean Jones claims the north London giants like Morgan Gibbs-White, but intriguingly, view him as more of a box-crashing No.8 in Big Ange’s system.
“One thing I have been told a few times if that they want someone with power from the midfield. Morgan Gibbs-White is someone they like but they like him as more of a number eight breaking out, not as a traditional number eight. They like that and they like Joao Gomes at Wolves,” Jones said.
Gibbs-White is one of the exciting young midfielders in the Premier League. He played a key role in Forest’s survival last season, netting five goals and 10 assists in 37 Premier League appearances. At only 24, the former England youth international has already bagged solid top-flight experience with 122 appearances under his banner.
Spurs’ idea to potentially use Gibbs-White as an attacking No.8 is exciting, provided he joins the club. Technically gifted and tactically smart, Gibbs-White has the qualities to essay that role in Big Ange’s system and complement the more defensive Yves Bissouma in the middle of the park. The prospect of having him, Bissouma and James Maddison is extremely tantalizing, providing Spurs with great balance and flexibility in the engine room.
However, as the Englishman is arguably Forest’s most important player, getting this deal done so late would be an uphill task for Spurs. Given his rise in stock in the last couple of years in the Premier League, we certainly will need to pay a premium to persuade Forest into selling one of their prized assets.

The fans will be over the moon if we can pull off this deal and send something of a statement across the division.
