Another Tottenham player could follow Giovani Lo Celso out of the club - Romano

Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon set to exit Tottenham before transfer deadline day

With less than 48 hours left for the summer transfer window to slam shut, Tottenham Hotspur are working hard to restructure the first-team squad.

The Lilywhites have made a statement by signing Dominic Solanke in a big-money move from Bournemouth. They have also added exciting talents in the form of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert. The north London club are still looking for opportunities to strengthen the squad further, although their main priority in the last two days of the transfer window lies in offloading the fringe players.

Astute acquisitions will serve Tottenham well now and in the future, as well as being able to move on players who Ange Postecoglou doesn’t want to have in the squad and are unlikely to get minutes this season. To that end, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on two players expected to leave Spurs.

Taking to his official X account, Fabrizio Romano claims both Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon are in the hunt for new clubs. Talks are continuing for them to pick the best option.

“Not only Gio Lo Celso: Sergio Reguilón also prepared to leave Spurs before the end of the window,” Romano tweeted.

“Talks ongoing to pick the best option.”

Lo Celso and Reguilon are not part of Big Ange’s project at Tottenham and have been supposedly informed internally to find new homes. They have not been included in Spurs’ match-day squads in the opening two Premier League games against Leicester City and Everton, which is another indication that their time at the club is all but over.

As far as Lo Celso is concerned, the midfielder has endured a difficult spell since moving N17 in a £55m million deal from Real Betis in 2019 and has struggled to cement a regular spot under his belt during his time at the club.

Giovani Lo Celso expected to leave Tottenham this summer

While he has spent time away on loan, the 2024 Copa America winner recording only 10 goals and eight assists during his time in north London shows how difficult a time he has endured at our club. The likes of Real Betis and Aston Villa have been vying for Lo Celso’s signature, with the former pushing hard to bring him back.

Meanwhile, Reguilon has struggled to find his feet at Spurs as well. The Spaniard, who earns £53k-a-week at our club, spent the last season on loan at Manchester United and Brentford. Following the emergence of Destiny Udogie, he is surplus to requirements at Tottenham. Despite his former allegiance with Real Madrid, the left-back has surprisingly attracted interest from Barcelona.

With only one year left on their current deals, Tottenham will be looking to ensure that they sell the duo rather than risk losing them on free transfers next summer.
