Fabrizio Romano gives latest update on 28-year-old’s move away from N17

published :

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to get rid of the surplus at White Hart Lane before the summer transfer window comes to closure, and one of the players linked with a move away from N17 is Giovani Lo Celso.

The Argentine midfielder has had a difficult spell at Spurs after struggling to find his feet at the club since a hefty money transfer to the North Londoners. While he enjoyed a brief spell of magnificent form, the purple patch hasn’t come since his initial days. Many thought that he could revamp his time at the club under Ange Postecoglou; however, that hasn’t been the case, and the Argentine is no longer in plans at N17.

Spurs could offload Lo Celso to Betis on Deadline Day

Spurs have James Maddison on the roster, who has taken on the creative baton at Hotspur Way, while Kulusevsi is a reputable backup to the number-ten role. And Lo Celso has been subject to links with a move away from Tottenham all summer, albeit nothing concrete has materialised.

Spanish giants Real Betis have been one of the clubs looking to sign Gio this summer. The La Liga side are stepping up their efforts to bring the 28-year-old to Estadio Benito Villamarín as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano hands us the latest update on the Argentine midfielder’s future. The Italian journalist insists that Betis are trying to get a green light from Spurs to sign Gio on the deadline day.

Spurs would be desperate to conclude a deal to sell Gio this summer.

For Tottenham, with less than twelve months on his contract, the club would not only ensure that they get some fees for the player but also see to it that Spurs don’t risk losing his services for free in less than twelve months’s time.
