Tottenham are about to send 19-year-old George Abbott on loan to Notts County
There are ample budding options at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal at Tottenham Hotspur, as Daniel Levy and Co. have set up a massive pipeline that will allow high-potential talents to develop consistently.
The top brass at the club will now look to ensure that the academy talents at their end get the right guidance and grow in the ideal environment. One such academy starlet who now looks to go out on loan to continue his development is George Abbott.
According to a report from Football London, Tottenham under-21 skipper George Abbott is set to seal a loan switch to League Two side Notts County.

George Abbott enjoyed a solid season for the Under-21s last season. He was the skipper of the Spurs reserves side and had a big year of development. The recently turned 19-year-old made his Premier League debut in May 2023, and after a fine year with the Under-21s, where he led his team to the double of the Premier League 2 title and play-off trophy with three goals and as many assists, he is heading to Notts County on a season-long loan.
Spurs’ under-21 side have already lost many talents this summer and Abbott is the next one to depart the club—albeit on loan to take the next step in his career by getting experience in men’s football. The teenager, who can operate across the midfield and defence, was involved in the senior side’s pre-season tour of Asia last month.
Having been involved in training with the first-team under Ange Postecoglou this summer, Spurs sending Abbott out on loan to League Two side is an indicator that he appears ready to handle men’s football now. A move to Notts County is perhaps deemed suitable for the step up to senior football after his memorable season with our club’s Under-21s.
An injury to Scott Robinson last week perhaps promoted Notts County to explore a loan move for Abbott. The midfielder penned down a new contract at the White Hart Lane in May as he tied himself down to the club until 2027 (Transfermarkt), and we should expect the academy kid to get opportunities to showcase his talent in League Two football.

There is ample time and room for Abbott to develop, and the officials at our club have done very well to agree with Notts County over a loan move.
