Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou happy with the summer transfer window
The summer transfer window slammed shut on August 30 and Tottenham Hotspur would have been quite happy with their transfer dealings.
Dominic Solanke became the most expensive acquisition for the north Londoners in their history thanks to him completing a move worth up to £65million from Premier League rivals Bournemouth. The Lilywhites also added young talents in Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Min-Hyeok Yang and Wilson Odobert, while re-signing Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig.
Tottenham didn’t just focus on the incomings front over the window. It was more centred on trimming the wage bill. The likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Emerson Royal and Eric Dier have all left the club.
Spurs also managed to offload Giovani Lo Celso, who re-signed for Real Betis just minutes before the end of La Liga’s summer transfer window. The transfer fee for the Argentina international is around €5 million, with Tottenham securing a priority option for American midfielder Johnny Cardoso.

Ange Postecoglou has declared himself with the current Tottenham squad and feels it has been a ‘positive window’ for the club.
“I think it’s been another positive window for us,” Ange Postecoglou said (h/t Football London) ahead of Spurs’ Premier League game against Newcastle United on Sunday.
“You want to go into every window and come out the other side of it in a stronger sense and I certainly feel that. The players we’ve brought in are already making a short-term impact and even in the longer-term, I think they’re going to be really good contributors for us.
“I certainly think we’ve got a more well-rounded squad to deal with Europe, the extra games and whatever injuries we have. So yeah, I think it’s been a real positive window.”
It really has been a solid transfer window for Spurs. Daniel Levy and Co. have managed to address the majority of the pressing issues of the squad.
Big Ange’s side was lacking a proper No.9 since Harry Kane departed for Bayern Munich last summer, someone who’d not only give them presence up top but also help off the ball, and they bought in Solanke from Bournemouth.
Having allowed Bryan Gil to leave on loan to Girona, the club sufficiently replaced him with an exciting youth talent in Odobert, who showed flashes of promise for Burnley in the Premier League last season.
The additions of young midfield talents Bergvall and Gray have allowed Spurs to move on deadwood such as Hojbjerg, Ndombele and Lo Celso and subsequently trim their wage bill. While Sergio Reguilon is still a part of our fabric, Big Ange and the club would hope he decides to leave for either Turkey or Saudi Arabia with the market still open in these two nations.

Let’s hope the new signings quickly gel with the squad and produce the desired results on the pitch for our club.
