'Story of our season' - Tottenham boss left frustrated over finishing after Newcastle defeat

Tottenham boss Postecoglou confident about ‘rewards’ despite Newcastle loss

Tottenham Hotspur have won just one of their first three matches of the Premier League with a defeat to Newcastle United being the most recent setback for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

While they thumped Everton 4-0 in the week prior, the campaign had gotten underway with a draw at Leicester City which raised some question marks on the team’s efficiency in attack.

Postecoglou believes Tottenham are on the right track, deserved better against Newcastle.
Postecoglou believes Tottenham are on the right track, deserved better against Newcastle.

Although his team has picked up just four points out of a possible nine so far in the Premier League, Ange Postecoglou is confident that the Lilywhites will start to see the results soon.

BBC’s Match of the Day quoted him saying:

“What I know is if we continue to play like that we will get our rewards. It’s not an easy place to come. For the most part, I thought we handled that really well. The way we controlled the game was really pleasing.”

As Postecoglou has said, Tottenham had control over the game for the better part of it and was only outdone on the transitions. Newcastle’s finishing was also better than theirs.

He has been a breath of fresh air at the club as compared to some managers in the past who would be more reactive to situations like these, and it has ensured harmony in the dressing room.

Even though they have started the season slower than many would have expected, there are still 35 matches left in the Premier League for Tottenham to right their wrongs and Spurs’ hierarchy will trust someone with the experience that Postecoglou has to eventually deliver the goods.
