Tottenham Hotspur predicted line-up against Arsenal - View

Tottenham’s dismal record at St. James’ Park continued as they fell to Newcastle 2-0, marking their first Premier League loss of the new season. Despite the defeat, Spurs showed promise with several dominant spells throughout the match. However, the efforts didn’t translate into points, leaving Tottenham empty-handed on matchday.

One person who remains optimistic is Spurs’ manager, Ange Postecoglou. Reflecting on the game, Postecoglou acknowledged the disappointment of the scoreline but was encouraged by his team’s performance. He noted that while Tottenham had control for large portions of the match, they were unable to convert that dominance into goals. Nevertheless, Postecoglou assured fans that big things are on the horizon for his squad in the coming weeks.

In the post match interview via X, Postecoglou has some really positive notes he took from the game. Reflecting on the game he said

“The amount of chances we have, we really should be getting more than what we’re getting as a return at the moment.”

The Lilywhites had twice the number of shots and around four times more touches inside the box. Not a really good day to be at the office for Postecoglou. He also said that

“Spurs controlled the game most of the time and there was not much different he would expect from the team apart from the result”

More Tottenham News:

While the match may have been thrilling for neutrals, Tottenham fans will find the result tough to swallow. With one loss, one win, and a draw from their first three games, Spurs are far from where they’d like to be on the points table. Newcastle is a formidable opponent, and given Spurs’ poor record at St. James’ Park, this defeat stings even more.

The big question now is whether Postecoglou’s optimism will translate into positive results after the international break. It will be worth keeping an eye on how Tottenham responds in the coming weeks.
