Tottenham Hotspur faced Newcastle United at the weekend and while the game ended in defeat, it was another opportunity for summer signing Wilson Odobert to showcase his potential by donning the Spurs badge.
The French winger took opportunities early into the season following Dominic Solanke picking up an injury which has had a domino effect on Ange Postecoglou’s squad selection.
Frenchman shines despite Spurs defeat
The Lilywhites have endured a difficult start to the campaign as they kicked off their season with 1-1 draw against Leicester City. While things looked promising in their 4-0 smashing of Everton, dropping points at St. James Park yesterday will again push the club away from their Champions League ambitions.
Speaking about ambitions, the club made an ambitious signing of Wilson Odobert who we think is Daniel Levy’s Nico Williams alternative.

Odobert’s performances have been one of the few positive of this season and Sturridge was quick to highlight that before Ange Postecoglou & Co. lined up against Newcastle United at St. James Park.
The former Liverpool star thinks Odobert is a player capable enough to lift the North Londoners out of the trenches. He acknowledges how the former Burnley star possesses a different skill set from anyone on Spurs’ current roster.
Sturridge backs Odobert to spark Spurs’ season
Speaking on Sky Sports, the ex-Liverpool star said:
“We are talking about a guy who is going to be taking people on with the ball at his feet. He is not shy of confidence, he can go either way, left foot, right foot, or stepovers. This guy is going to bring creativity to Spurs in one-on-one situations that they have probably not had for a while, in terms of how direct he plays.”
Daniel Levy signed Odobert in a £25 million transfer this summer as Ange Postecoglou handed him the first start against Everton a couple of weeks back.

Tottenham supporters would be excited about the prospect of Odobert going forward in the season and beyond.
